Bring your class to the garden
We host school field trips and mentor local youth in the garden, where the lessons come with dirt under the fingernails: where food comes from, what soil is, why the bees matter. If you teach, we'd love to plan a visit around what your students are learning.

We answer thousands of gardening questions a year at the nursery tables. Here are the ones we hear most, answered the way we'd tell you in person.
What should I plant right now?
Late summer is fall-garden time in the Bay: brassicas like broccoli and cabbage, hardy greens, and root crops all want to be in the ground before the rains. Come by the tables and we'll point you at what's ready this week.
I've killed everything I've ever planted. Where do I start?
Start with us, honestly. We stock varieties chosen for this climate because we want first-time and previously unsuccessful gardeners to win. Come tell us your sun, your space, and your watering honesty level, and we'll match you to something forgiving.
Are your plants organic?
We strictly adhere to organic practices, though we're not certified. Ask us how anything was grown; we'll tell you straight.
Do you have a specific plant in stock?
We're too small to keep a live list, but our tables change weekly; check On the Tables for the latest photos, or ask in The Weekend List week to week.
Can I volunteer without experience?
Yes. Drop in during nursery hours or on a clear-weather Farm Sunday, 1 to 5. You'll learn by doing.
Do you take plant or material donations?
Sometimes; it depends on what and when. Ask us at the tables or through the contact form before hauling anything over, and we'll tell you straight whether we can put it to use.
